Why should we pray?

It’s not important that everyone knows what your situation might be; or rather, why you are standing in the need of prayer.  We can all resolve to be prayer “warriors” and pray to the Lord on our own behalf and on the behalf of others.  Listen to one of the prayer “warriors”.  Believe that God is able; and know, that He answers prayer.  “By his stripes you are  healed…”

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
James 5:16

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

What is prayer?
  • the act or practice of praying, as to God
  • an earnest request; entreaty; supplication
  • a humble and sincere request, as to God
  • an utterance, as to God, in praise, thanksgiving, confession, etc.
  • in some religions, a devotional service consisting chiefly of prayers
  • any spiritual communion, as with God

Who should we pray for?

We can pray for our family, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.  This is generally considered to be natural and sensible.  Close attention should be given to praying for those that are not able to pray for themselves. We must also pray earnestly for those that oppose and sometimes abuse us.  This is very difficult, but necessary.  For remember, prayer changes “things”.
